Luxe Box Review – Spring 2013

Luxe Box Review – Spring 2013

After long awaited anticipation for the Spring Luxe Box by Loose Button it arrived the other day. This month they partnered up with “Steven & Chris” who have a show on CBC. Anyway my excitement was at a high when it came into my hands and couldn’t wait to see inside.

Since changing to a quarterly subscription last year, having to wait 3 months for the box seems like an eternity, but so far I haven’t been disappointed until now. I want to choose my words carefully, because after reading several reviews I am tempted to jump on the bandwagon with the disappointed members, but I will say there are good things and some not so good things about this month’s box. I think sometimes, ok a lot of times, I may tend to get my hopes up with subscription boxes and think they are going to out do themselves each month, but then quickly have to put myself in check. With Luxe Box they send you 7 to 8 trial-sized beauty and lifestyle items picked by their beauty editors and they did deliver on that. This month was a little different. Instead of a product information card, they included a magazine style booklet, which highlights a few of the beauty trends for Spring. Inside they have products listed and you would easily assume that these are the products you received, but they are not. Loose Button did send out an email stating that, but I think people were still confused and a little pissed off about not receiving the products in the booklet. If you didn’t get the email, I could understand you feeling that way. I personally do prefer the product information cards. I don’t like having to go to the website to read up on the products and how to use them. Another thing they changed was they did away with feedback surveys and now have partnered with Anthia’s Lounge, a place for members to share their feedback with each other. I guess time will tell if this was a good change for Loose Button.

Ok, ok enough about all that and on to the products I received.

First of all I love their boxes! They're excellent quality. Inside Luxe Box is stamped in gold, so stylish. Great to reuse for anything. Inside the products are in a nice big pouch, also great to reuse. The Steven & Chris label was just a piece of paper folded around the top of the box, so you could easily remove it.

Luxe Box Review – Spring 2013

Luxe Box Review – Spring 2013

Here’s what I received:

KMS Quick Blow Dry

Luxe Box Review – Spring 2013

Speeds up drying time up to 50% while reducing friction and protects hair from heat while conditioning. Use for an accelerated drying time and to reduce total time spent on styling. If using another product, spray Free Shape Quick Blow Dry on hair as last step before blow drying. Shake. Spray onto towel-dried hair as a last step before blow drying. Style as usual.

I hate blow drying my hair and if this really reduces the time it takes to dry and provides heat protection, this will be my new favourite product! This is a good size sample and I’m very excited to try it!

Kerastase Bain Chroma Captive

Luxe Box Review – Spring 2013

Shine intensifying conditioner for ultimate color radiance for color-treated hair. Created to help preserves color and shine for up to 40 days with use of Chroma Captive system. Polishes the hair fiber, leaving it smooth for maximum light reflection.

I’ve used this brand before and like it. It does help preserve colour, so this is good for me.

Vichy Liftactiv Serum 10

Luxe Box Review – Spring 2013

Vichy’s breakthrough anti-aging formula features a 10% concentration of Rhamnose, a naturally derived plant sugar proven to help boost skin rejuvenation. To be used daily, twice a day. Can be used alone or under your daily cream. Easy and fast to use: One drop goes a long way. Penetrates fast in the skin and leaves it velvety smooth. Leaves your skin is ready for your cream application or your make-up.

Thankfully I got 4 of these samples, so I’ll be able to tell after using if it did make a difference. It has a very light scent. It absorbs fast and skin does feel very smooth, with no residue or greasy feel. I really like the way this feels on my skin, love it!

Mereadesso Lip Treats

Luxe Box Review – Spring 2013

Give your lips a reason to pucker up! Lip Treats is a lush blend of evening primrose, grape seed, coconut and sunflower oils, enhanced by the added benefits of Vitamins C and E. It's a perfect primer for ANY lipstick, gloss or lipliner: it extends the wear time without a hint of waxy build-up, and is sold by the pair in a handy reusable pouch. Your lips will love you for it.

This was a full-size product, so I’m very happy about that. I love anything that improves the look and feel of your lips. This does feel good on your lips, not too heavy and not sticky.

Blue Lagoon Silica Mud Mask

Luxe Box Review – Spring 2013

The Silica mud is the Blue Lagoon's signature element. The pure white geothermal mud deep cleanses and exfoliates. Naturally strengthens skin's barrier function. Brings out the skin's inner glow, gives it a vital energy boost and smooth complexion. Excellent face & body mask.

Another good size sample and I got a small sample of their Rich Nourishing Cream. I don’t really use masks, but every now and then I do. So I’ll will give this a try.

Lancome Genefique Youth Activating Serum

Luxe Box Review – Spring 2013

Award-winning serum that helps create a more youthful-looking skin by promoting natural skin renewal that is characteristic of young skin. Visible skin in just 7 days. Drop by drop, skin is vibrant with youth, its tone becomes astonishingly even and its texture dramatically refined.

Well another serum to try. This is a great brand and I may have used this one in the past. Comparing this and the Vichy one, there’s not much difference. Maybe over time there is. I didn’t need two serums to try, but not much I can do about it now. It is a great brand though.

Blending Sponge

Luxe Box Review – Spring 2013

A makeup sponge applicator that flawlessly blends in your makeup for the perfect look. The applicator should be dampened with water before use and can be used with liquid, cream, loose powder or pressed powder makeup. For best results, use the applicator in a stippling or bouncing motion.

Finally there was this...not much to say here, it’s a sponge. Nothing special about it. I’ve not used one quite like this, but who knows maybe I’ll get better coverage.

In all honesty, I was a little disappointed when I opened the box, but they are great quality products and some I’ve never used before. Now that I’ve had a little time to examine them, I am happy with what I got. I do wish there was a bit more variety, but there’s always next month. Speaking of which, when I subscribed I purchased the annual subscription and that was before they changed to a quarterly subscription, so they gave me a credit. Next month will be the last of my credit, so I’m really on the fence if I should continue or cancel. It will all depend on how they do next month. So Loose Button if you’re listening, please just “wow” me a little more next month.

Did you like this month’s Luxe Box? What different products did you get? Leave me a comment, I'd like to hear what everyone thinks of the new changes they have made.
