Get yourself somewhere safe and batten down the hatches, we are being invaded this month by ZBOX. The theme is "Invasion" and what a box they have put together this time. I got out my tin foil hat and I’m prepared to welcome my alien overlords. This month’s ZBOX is a bit heavy although there are not too many items included. That being said, sometimes, it is not about quantity, it is about quality and ZBOX always seems to deliver there.
ZBOX is a monthly geek box themed around your favourite geeky interests and will include a variety of items tied to a monthly theme. Each month you will be sent a box containing over £35 ($50 USD) worth of exclusive, licensed merchandise. Perfect as a monthly treat or a gift for your geeky friends. ZBOX wants the box to be as much of the experience as the mystery gifts inside it, so every month the interior of your box will have been designed specifically around the theme. Other boxes they offer are: Gamer ZBOX and THREADS.

I love the ZBOX magazine. The articles are usually fun and easy to digest. This month we have an interview with the illustrator that designed the t-shirt and an article on the worst special effects in movie history focusing on more recent films. The magazine is well produced and has a professional look to it. A little bonus compared to a simple info card.

There is a quote on the bottom of the ZBOX, “Slowly and surely they drew their plans against us.”. This is from the classic by H.G. Wells, War of the World's. It is from the very beginning of the book. In my opinion the best piece of Invasion fiction ever written. I read this when I was much younger and when I read it now, I still get the same creepy feeling.

Invasion T-Shirt
An homage to Invasion movies from the classic “The Day the Earth Stood Still” to “Mars Attacks”. Can you get all the references? I couldn’t, I needed to cheat. Thanks Google. The shirt is really awesome. The artwork is really well thought out and colourful. I would wear this one for sure. The quality is also excellent.

Weeping Angel Bobble Head
Arguably one of the most iconic invaders from the Doctor Who series next to the Daleks. The weeping angel is a 7 inch stone grey terror. The details of the grimace that is intent on devouring your human life is awesome. I do find it funny that the stone angel has a bobble head when the actual Weeping Angel had no moving parts. A minor technicality really. I was really excited to see this treasure. The Wacky Wobbler line of collectibles is put out by Funko so you can expect quality.

World of Warcraft Plush Durotan
Durotan, son of Garad, was chieftain of the Frostwolf Clan, mate of Draka and father of the future Warchief, Thrall. This is lore from the Warcraft novels and short stories. I have never seen or heard of Bleacher Creatures. Bleacher Creatures are officially licensed true-to-life 10" plush figures that stand on their own. I think they originally started with sports figures. The website boasts that Bleacher Creatures turn the greatest athletes and entertainment icons into characters, even friends, whom you can hang out with anytime, anywhere. Well that’s just sad.

Alien 2 Pack Vinyl
I’m going to invade my collection with this Alien collectible. From the classic 1979 science-fiction movie, Alien, Ripley and the Alien are a perfect addition to this Invasion collection. I love these types of vinyl collectible packs. I am not a fan of blind boxed/bagged items in any way. So knowing what I am getting is always a plus. These figures are in a window box which you can enjoy without opening the box. The box can be opened and closed back up easily enough. Just like the weeping angel. The Ripley figure is a bit odd. It took me a while and with the help of the internet, I figured out that her outfit is supposed to resemble her getting into her space suit from the final scene in the movie. The Alien is awesome. The Alien has a solid look and has a removable inner jaw. If you are into vinyl, you are going to love this one too.

Last month I announced that the theme was Invasion. I also said that I was thinking Mars Attacks or Alien. I got the Alien right and I kind of got the Mars Attacks as there are references inside the magazine to the movie. Good for me! This is a premier subscription box for the geek that loves to collect. The company really goes all out and I do not have a bad thing to say about them. I really would love to get one of the specialty boxes to see what that is like. They are upwards in the $100 range so I can just imagine what is included there. For our Invasion box we are once again treated to excellent items and with incredible value. If you don't agree, I would love to hear why.
What do you think of ZBOX?
