Kiwi Crate Review - December 2013

This month’s theme is “Polar Expedition” and included two projects - My Snowball Toss and My Polar Window Clings.

Let’s check it out:

My Snowball Toss

This involved making a set of polar paws and ears to create a polar bear costume. Then use the ball to play snowball catch! It’s low on the messiness and medium for the grownup involvement. This was very easy and quick to complete and here’s the final look. Awww...don’t I have the cutest polar bear!

My Polar Window Clings

Everything you need to create your own window clings. Make a set of polar animals and snowflakes, then stick them to your window to create a polar scene! High on the messiness and medium for grownup involvement. This is more time-consuming, because once you complete your designs you have to wait 24 hours for them to dry. I think they turned out alright. We’ll probably make more since we have more than enough supplies.

Every month they also include an explore! magazine. Can I tell you how much I love these magazines! They have additional activities, stories and fun facts for kids. For instance, this month included a snowflake cookie cutter to make salt dough pendants. We spent the whole afternoon making snowflake ornaments and had a blast. We made a ton of them and then used the leftover dough to make the boys handprints and other animal shapes which we're going to use as ornaments on the tree next year. So much fun!
