Angels’ Cup Black Box Review + Promo Code – December 2015

Angels’ Cup is a coffee tasting subscription box with a twist. It’s more about you than the coffee, it’s about developing a better sense of taste. That’s why they built an app that lets you record tasting notes before knowing what the coffee is, compare answers with experts, and connect with other members of their community. Learning to pick out the subtle flavours in coffee is a life skill, and you’ll start catching yourself paying more attention to other things you eat and drink, like whiskey and wine. The more coffees you try, the better you’ll get!

Revelator Coffee Company Ethiopia Mokonisa (Tasting #259)

A very fruity Ethiopian. The flavour is relatively weak on blueberry, strong on Concorde grape, though you'll still get a lot of mixed berry flavour.

Revelator Coffee Ethiopia Shakiso (Tasting #260)

An interesting coffee to drink because it's exceptionally floral. The dominant flavour is probably jasmine, though I can't say for sure. Floral notes are always tough to nail. Also unusual for its lower than expected acidity. The citrus notes (common in washed Ethiopian) are probably best described as orange.

Goshen Coffee Company Banko Gotiti (Tasting #261)

Amazing dry aroma, bursting with blueberry. In the cup, there's a little less blueberry than expected given the aroma, but that gives other fruit flavours a chance to shine through. Also hints of chocolate in the aftertaste.

Goshen Coffee Company Pedro Melgar (Tasting #262)

This one might be a little green when hot, but as it cools it develops excellent caramel sweetness and interesting oak/cedar flavours.

Angels' Cup is a fun way to explore and discover different coffee roasters, as well as testing your coffee tasting skills. I'm not a big fan of fruity coffees so I can't say that these are some of my favourite blends, but they were still nice to try.
