ZBOX wants the box to be as much of the experience as the mystery gifts inside it, so every month the interior of your box will have been designed specifically around the theme and includes a little Easter-egg, so if you are a subscriber, grab your old boxes and see if you can find it! This month’s theme is Guardians.
This month I am not sure what happened or who's to blame as this box comes from the UK. Upon arrival, the box was quite damaged on one side. I don’t think it is Zavvi’s fault but certainly we can look at either Canada Post or the Royal Mail since this package comes from the UK. I will touch on what the damaged box means to the contents as I go on.

This volume is the story of a heroic, hastily formed coalition of humans and elities that must overcome their differences as they embark on a covert mission back to the ark after a startling scientific discovery in made. The Halo series first became popular as Microsoft’s exclusive offering for Xbox and this book series is another revenue stream for the franchise. The series has made it to the New York Times best sellers list.
Guardians of the Galaxy T-Shirt
If you ever get abducted by aliens, wearing this T-shirt will no doubt bring you some of the same good luck that young Peter Quill had in Guardians of the Galaxy. This shirt is a perfect example of the obscure references from my favourite movies that I love. Only a real fan is going to pick up these subtle details. I am a fan of the movie and I had no idea what the reference was when I opened up the T. I was stumped.
This is a really lightweight wallet made of Tyvek. It doesn't actually allow you to trap ghosts but it does allow you to trap money, which is much better. It is so lightweight that when you are pick pocketed for this treasure, you will have no idea.
Transformers Figurines & 3D Puzzle Piece Collector Cards
Freedom is the right of all sentient beings’ according to Optimus Prime, so it is unfortunate for him that the sentient human race is not all that great at protecting themselves from Decepticons. Thanks for helping us guard the Earth Autobots! The figure is approximately 1.5 inches tall and comes with 3D Puzzle collector cards.
OK, here come the damaged items:
Harry Potter POP! Vinyl (Albus Dumbledore)
This wise wizard stands 3 3/4 inches. Check out the other Harry Potter figures from Funko! This is from the first series. The second series of Harry potter POP! Vinyl was just released last month. Dumbledore is what came in our box and is number 4 in the series. For this item, you can see where the box has been deformed a bit. So if I were to sell this online, I certainly could not advertise it as mint condition. Now, it’s a good toy for the kids to play with and isn’t that what these are meant for anyway?
This is a first edition of based on the NBC television series Heroes. I enjoyed the story and I like the art. What I did not like was the damage in the bottom corner.
Z-Box Magazine
This is a great addition to this subscription box. This month we see some photos of last months ZBOX recipients. One photo has the Chucky doll in the shining T-shirt, I swear I did the exact same thing. We have a piece outlining Starlords dance moves from the opening sequence. This is just to name a few things. The production value is exceptional. I actually read it, it’s fun!
This month we have been given a awesome collection of items that represent the theme of guardians. Once again, I am really impressed with the items that came in ZBOX. What disappoints me is the damage to the box. I will also mention that the shipping box is very sturdy. It's something that you are going to have to really make an effort to destroy. The value is excellent though. I get a total value of around $60 USD. That’s pretty good.
Oh, and what about the Easter Egg (which I think is the text at the bottom of the boxes) - “This is for...Mathilda”. In the 1994 Luc Besson movie, “Mathilda” is a 12-year-old, played by Natalie Portman in her first role, who seeks shelter in the arms of a hitman named Léon, played by Jean Reno. Alt-J’s song takes a line from the movie. (Spoiler alert) Léon says the line, “This is for...Mathilda,” as he gives a corrupt DEA detective a grip of grenade pins.
