South Park King of Spades T-Shirt
$20

This t-shirt is awesome. Great artwork and really good quality. As promised, it is an official licensed product from the creators of South Park. The size of the t-shirt won’t work for me and it is too bad because I like the subtleness of the Cartman reference as the King of Spades. I looked for this item online and I could not find it anywhere.

RASL No. 15 by Jeff Smith

I had never heard of RASL. I also have not read a new comic in a long while. RASL is a 2013 graphic novel by cartoonist Jeff Smith. A sci-fi noir, it is the story of RASL (Dr. Robert Joseph Johnson), an art thief who jumps to parallel universes in attempts to steal famous paintings, but runs into danger as he is pursued by the government. Number 15 is the last installment in The Lost Journals Of Nikola Tesla trade. Jeff Smith is better known for his very popular work called Bone. RASL draws influences from real-life events, people, and places, including Nikola Tesla, Southwestern Native American culture, and hard-boiled crime fiction. The book's central storyline is narrated extensively through the protagonist's thoughts, aided by the use of flashbacks to tell the story of his past. Smith's art style is high-contrast black-and-white, and is notably more detailed and "human" than his previous work Bone.

Since this is the very last comic published in this series, I am not surprised I was lost and uninterested reading it. As for the condition of the comic, it was ratty by my standards. The edges are all creased and bent. The paper stock was cheap as well but the art style supports this medium.

Sesame Street Classic Albums Poster

This was a treat. I am a big music fan and I loved the campy take on many popular albums. It was a lot of fun to see many of the albums I own remastered so to speak. The writers did a good job with re-naming albums as well, taking things like Nirvana’s Nevermind and Changing it to Learn to Swim by Elmo. Thus playing on the swimming pool reference in the original album. Did you have a favourite? Can you figure out all the references? I think my favorite is the Joy Division Album. The poster does come folded so lots of creases. Too bad.

TeeBlox is a T-Shirt subscription so the focus is on that item. TeeBlox nails it. All the t-shirts I have seen from them have always been excellent quality and very appropriate. They are not always to my taste but to me, it’s part of the fun. As for the bonus items, I think they are just that. Some added value (not much, a dollar or two) of some old items that were probably destined for a landfill. Sometimes these items are fun, like the poster, and sometimes not so much, like the comic. Overall I really don’t mind, I joined a t-shirt subscription and I get what I pay for. You get good value for your money. That is if you live in the US. If you live anywhere else, like that foreign country to the north called Canada. The shipping is really expensive. The shipping is twice the value of the subscription. So $30 USD later, you get a t-shirt. That doesn’t make financial sense to me.
