This month we focus on the 70’s. This is the era I was born into. So I was very excited to see what they had to offer.

Exclusive T-Shirt “Miser vs Miser”
The write up on the info card is as follows, “Who do you side with...Mister Ten Below or Mister 101? Here’s hoping that Santa never gets another cold on Christmas Eve!”. This reference is a total mystery to me. Did they mean Mister or Miser? I even googled the Miser vs Miser reference and could find nothing. The image does look like the old rock’em sock’em robots but I don’t get the quote “knock his frost off” found on the t-shirt. This is not something I will wear but a good quality t-shirt.

DC Comics Villains Magnet Set (4)
Celebrate your inner anarchist with this set of 4 villains magnets, designed in the style of the 1970’s comics. The magnets are of very good quality and the images have bright colours and excellent art. This is my favourite item in the box.

Ode to Role Play 20 Sided Dice And Door Hanger
You come to a closed door. What do you do. Roll the 20 sided die and determine what happens next. This is truly 70’s with an ode to a game I used to play called Dungeons and Dragons. I can recall rolling a 20 sided die and hoping for a big number. I gave this to my son who is interested in keeping people out of his private space.

Disco Ball Keychain
Admit it, as soon as you laid eyes on this, the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack started playing in your head. This is a really cheap plastic keychain. My friend saw it and got very excited so maybe the problem here is my attitude. I have always been more of a metal head.

Kitsch on the Rocks Cocktail Coasters
Liven up your swinging cocktail parties with these era-inspired coasters. Perfect for resting your Singapore Sling and Tequila Sunrises. These are cardboard coasters with four different drinks that were popular in the 70’s. Again, not very high quality but a fun little set you can use when you have people over for a party.

This is my second Retro Pop Box and so far I am not impressed. I really don’t see where they get $45 value out of the items that they include here. It’s really hit and miss with most items being really useless. When I think of the 70’s, I think of Star Wars (1977), The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975). I think of all the great rock music from that era like Led Zeppelin. I really think they missed the mark especially since some of the items are a bit odd and I don’t get the reference.
What do you think of Retro Pop Box?
