Mystery Chocolate Box, who kindly sent me this box to review, is fun way to enjoy exotic chocolates every month! Each month you’ll receive three different chocolate bars that have been carefully hand-selected for your enjoyment. The outside wrappers have been removed so the ingredients are a mystery. While you enjoy each bar, see if you can guess what ingredients are inside. You then submit your guesses on their site -- if you get all three correct, you'll get a prize!
Cost: $17.95 + $ 7 shipping.
No need to worry about the chocolate melting in the heat. They line each box with a somewhat silly looking piece of aluminum foil to help keep cold air in and pack two cold packs in each box.
So, we did the taste test and everyone agreed that Bar A was a no-go. It has a “orangey” flavour and no one really cared for it or wanted a second bite.
Bar B was much more to everyone’s liking and had a bit of crunchiness inside. It’s more of a dark chocolate which I like.
Bar C Was a good one too. It has more of a creamy, almost buttery flavour with some nuts throughout.
Once you’re finished tasting and guessing the ingredients in each bar, you go to the website and submit your guesses. You will get an email revealing the chocolate bars. I went to the Blog section on the site and found what June’s Mystery Bars were. They are:
Bar A - Organic Lemon Ginger Chocolate with Black Pepper by Equal Exchange
Bar B - ECI Vanilla Nib by Theo Chocolate
Bar C - Milk Chocolate with Hazelnuts by Divine Chocolate
It was fun trying out the chocolate bars, but I don’t find the mystery part very interesting. I like chocolate and trying news one, so that’s enough for me. I guess getting a prize for making correct guesses on the ingredients makes it more fun. Any chocolate lover would love this box though and it would be a fun thing to do with friends. It’s good quality chocolate you’re getting, but I find it’s a bit too pricey.
