Who doesn’t like fresh-baked goods?! Bowzer Box is taking us on a bakery tour that is all about the pooch. The month’s stop is at The Barkery in Stratford, Ontario. They were established in 2001 and are well known for their healthy treats. They use the best ingredients sourced from local farmers. The list includes apples, carrots, zucchini, peanut butter, honey, molasses, flax seed, emu, bacon, cheese, and parsley. Not a common list of ingredients that you might find in a dog treat. Let’s see what Stella has to say.

I try most of the products from the doggie subscription boxes on my Jack Russel/Beagle. She is an 8-year-old 20 pound bundle of energy named Stella. She doesn’t love everything that comes in the box but that is OK. She is a very discerning, I mean, fussy dog.
The Barkery Chicken Liver Snaps
Liver has a significant amount of protein, fat and vitamin A. That being said, you can over do it. Chicken liver should comprise less than 10% of your dog’s meat consumption per day to ensure that your dog is getting all the health benefits. So you can feel good about treating your dog with a snap or two a day. The chicken liver and egg are locally farmed. These should have been a bigger hit with Stella. I was expecting her to go nuts but they don’t smell very strong so she tends to be indifferent. She has been eating them but not like she devours the ginger snaps.
The Barkery Ginger Snaps
Ginger has been used for its health benefits for over 5000 years and is a favourite medicinal and culinary herb. Ginger is known to relieve stress, settle an uneasy tummy, as a digestive aid, as a great mouth freshener and helps reduce inflammation. Stella approved, these treats are obviously tasty. They smell delicious and based on the ingredients, I would even eat them. Don’t worry Stella, I won’t!
The Barkery Bunny Cookie
Using only the best ingredients from local farmers, including fresh apples, carrots, zucchini, honey, and molasses. Obviously made with love. Stella feels that for sure.
Whimzees Dental Chew
Correct me if I am wrong, but I think this is a first time that there has ever been a treat sourced from outside North America. This product comes to us all the way from the Netherlands. Made with all natural ingredients, the vegetable based texture will help remove plaque and tartar as your dog chews. Let’s face it, Stella loves to chew!
Ethical Pet Products Spot Toy
This plush green toy is ultra soft and full of squeakers. I especially like the head and tail arrangement that is retractable and pulls through the body of the toy. I do however feel like this one won’t last very long. Stella hasn’t killed it yet but she is working on it and loving it. I should qualify that Stella loves a good plushie and a few loud squeaks.
One common theme you will read a lot in these reviews is the use of all natural ingredients. This is one thing that Bowzer Box tends to do very well. They include quality treats and products. All too often the companies that we are buying from are trying to cut corners and increase profits. You won’t find those products here and you can be sure that pup is getting the best. This month’s box is no exception. The value is on par with what you would expect. Thanks again Bowzer Box. Hey, if you guys are reading this, I could use some poop bags in the next box!
