Angels’ Cup Black Box Review – July 2015

Angels’ Cup is a coffee tasting subscription box with a twist. It’s more about you than the coffee, it’s about developing a better sense of taste. That’s why they built an app that lets you record tasting notes before knowing what the coffee is, compare answers with experts, and connect with other members of their community. Learning to pick out the subtle flavours in coffee is a life skill, and you’ll start catching yourself paying more attention to other things you eat and drink, like whiskey and wine. The more coffees you try, the better you’ll get!

Angels’ Cup Black Box Review – July 2015

I received 4 different coffees, each one numbered. I tried to guess some of the flavours by giving each bag a sniff test. There is a Menu (aka cheat sheet) that gives you the names of the coffee and the flavours. I think I'm pretty good at this since I was able to get a few of them right before even tasting them. If you’ve heard of third-wave coffee, that’s the kind of coffee they ship. If you haven’t heard of third-wave coffee, basically it’s 100% arabica, single-origins that rival fine wines in complexity.

I love trying new coffee, so I really enjoyed Angels' Cup! It's a great way to learn more about new roasters and they never ship the same thing twice. If you like a sample, you can buy a whole bag in their store. Great for even for the most discerning coffee connoisseur or someone who's more "cas" about their coffee.
